There are many apps out there that are becoming essential for each and every smartphone, but we were wondering what were the apps developed in India, for India?  Have you ever wondered the same? If so, this list is for you. If not, take a look and tell us what you think!;)

1) Paytm :

The mobile and DTH recharge app is now also a mobile shopping portal. The difference? You can bargain for the products you want to buy before purchase. That is like bringing the street bazaars online! Using the app, the user can chat with the seller and try and come down to an agreeable price. We wonder what’s’ next! Free recharge maybe?

2) Flipkart :

The online retail bigwig also has a supremely competitive app in the android market.  Read user reviews, scroll through shopping categories, filter by price and specifications, pay by netbanking, cash cards, credit or debit cards or cash on delivery,  search products using voice search and using brands and categories. All these features rolled into one simple mobile shopping app. What more do you want? All this in the Flipkart android app!

 3) Hike messenger :

Hike is a chat app, but one that is going ways to ensure user privacy.  From customising who sees the users status or the last seen, to hiding chats from peeping toms, hike is definitely an app to watch. Although the ad is suggestive for college goers, it still reminds of how back when facebook got the edge over Orkut for focusing more on user privacy than the open sharing of information. Go Hike up your life!

4) JD Justdial :

Stop everything, because the boss of everything is here! It has info on everything, from restaurants to bike dealers and from movie theaters to schools and colleges. Literally everything!  Just enter your city and search either by category or by name and you’ll have the top results at your fingertips. A must have app, and it is awesome!

5)  Zomato – Restaurant Finder :

Discover places to eat! Oh, yes, for a foodie, there is hardly much else to ask for.  Enjoy browsing through menus of any restaurant in your city, and look at user reviews.  Browse by cuisine, location, name and if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, by browsing through ‘Collections’.  Find places near you and use custom filters. Now, you’ve either ‘Been There’ or it’s on your ‘Wishlist’. Of course, you could always have that cool place on ‘Speed Dial’!

 6) Cricbuzz Cricket Scores & News :

Stuck in office and you can’t  sneak a peek at the game of a lifetime? Computer screen monitored by boss?  The Crickbuzz app gives you ball by ball commentary, so you don’t miss out on the fun!  Can’t read? The live commentary feature is for you! Read editorials to keep updated on off and on the field happenings and immerse yourself in the unofficial – official game of India!

7) Way2SMS Free SMS :

Sending SMSes has become a pain ever since smartphones have taken over as the market leader of phones, SMSing has lost it’s charm and has been replaced by instant messaging apps like Hike and WhatsApp and Line Messenger.  Way2SMS allows you to send SMS to numbers, without having to recharge with an SMS pack and upping your monthly mobile budget.  The only constraint? You can’t send messages to numbers that have  DND activated or are registered in the NDNC India.

 8) Speaking Tree :

Along with the ‘Times of India’ and a host of other popular apps, Times Internet Limited has a strong foothold in the indian android market.  The Speaking Tree app, the mobile reincarnation of a section of the TOI paper, brings together people of different faiths, to discuss spirituality under the guidance of spiritual leaders of worldwide repute.  Find your spiritual blessing, look for meditation techniques and connect with your Spiritual Gurus, do all this under the social structure of Speaking Tree.  Go find your inner self. 9) ixigo :

Not just railways, but also flights, hotels, and buses, this travel Website has a bunch of lightweight apps for the consummate traveler and the traveler of compulsion alike.  Find trains, book hotel tickets, this app is an up and comer in the host of apps for travel bookings, competing with the likes of Redbus and MakeMyTrip.  Still, the cool interface and easy to understand and handle app is a must have if you’re looking at a lot of travel.

10) State Bank ‘Freedom’ :

The mobile banking app of the State Bank of India, State Bank’s ‘Freedom’ gives users the freedom of on the go banking and while most banks have come out with their own mobile banking platforms, SBI deserves a mention because of its sheer number of clients.  The app allows online funds transfer, along with beneficiary maintenance, viewing recent transactions and payment of bills, all on a lightweight platform for free on the android platform.
